Netflix recently released an official teaser trailer for its upcoming series “3 Body Problem,” created by Alexander Woo and “Game of Thrones” creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss.
About the clip: Netflix shared the teaser on social media platforms such as YouTube on June 18.
“From the creators of ‘Game of Thrones’ comes a stunning new blockbuster series unlike anything you’ve seen before. This is your first look at ‘3 Body Problem,’” Netflix wrote in the teaser’s description.
About the upcoming adaptation: According to the streaming giant, the series follows a group of scientists who are forced to “face humanity’s greatest threat” after “a fateful decision in 1960s China echoes across space and time.”
The series is an adaptation of Chinese author Liu Cixin’s 2008 sci-fi novel “The Three-Body Problem,” the first book of the “Remembrance of Earth’s Past” trilogy. The novel explores the aftermath of the discovery of an alien civilization in a star system close to Earth.
Key people: The series’ cast includes Saamer Usmani as Raj Varma, Jess Hong as Jin Cheng, Jovan Adepo as Saul Durand, Sea Shimooka as Sophon, Rosalind Chao as Ye Wenjie, Benedict Wong as Da Shi and John Bradley as Jack Rooney.
In addition to Woo, Benioff and Weiss, executive producers include Ram Bergman, Bernadette Caulfield, Dede Gardner, Rian Johnson, Jeremy Kleiner, Rosamund Pike, Brad Pitt, Lin Qi, Nena Rodrigue, Robie Uniacke and Zhao Jilong.
Other details: “3 Body Problem,” which was first announced in September 2020, is expected to premiere on Netflix in January 2024.
