The British teacher accused of molesting three blind students in India may have abused 34 more children across the country, police reports said.
Murray Dennis Ward, 54, was arrested last week after an employee at a school run by the non-profit National Association for the Blind reported him to authorities. Ward made donations before volunteering to teach English at the school.
Two male students, 14 and 15, also came forward to accuse Ward of sexual abuse. Initial investigations revealed that he had been posting questionable clips on WhatsApp, and that his laptop contained such “objectionable videos.”
Now, authorities are saying that Ward may have abused 34 other children, both male and female, the Times of India reported. He allegedly sent them explicit messages.
Police, who had since labeled Ward a pedophile, also found over 100 photos and videos of children being sexually abused in his phone. Some were allegedly shot through the device.
Ward came to India in 2000 and worked for several telecom companies. He claimed meeting his victims during his travels to Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai, where he spent time for philanthropic work.
Authorities are currently looking at the possibility that Ward may be part of a larger, international pedophile group. His victims are also being contacted for their statements.
