Man Buys Lottery Ticket After Girlfriend Says No, Wins $1,000,000

Conventional wisdom would normally urge a man to listen to his girlfriend or wife lest he suffer a woman’s wrath, but one Michigan man is now $1 million richer because he did the complete opposite.

Conventional wisdom would normally urge a man to listen to his girlfriend or wife lest he suffer a woman’s wrath, but one Michigan man is now $1 million richer because he did the complete opposite.
The lucky guy, who chose to remain anonymous, explains that his girlfriend urged him not to buy any more lottery tickets.
“I stopped to get gas and the pump didn’t print out a receipt so I grabbed a couple of $5 winning tickets and went inside the store.
“On my way in, my girlfriend told me not to buy any lottery tickets, but I didn’t listen. I bought one ‘50X The Cash’ ticket and paid for it with my two $5 winners.”
Knowing that he just defied his girlfriend’s orders, he kept the scratch-off lottery ticket purchase to himself and kept the ticket hidden all day until he found some alone time.
“I scratched the ticket in the bathroom and thought I was having a heart attack when I saw it was a $1 million winner.”
“I showed the ticket to my parents and neither of them believed me. We immediately went to the computer to look the game up online and read the instructions again. That’s when it finally started to sink in that I had won big.”
Of course, a rather big chunk of the winnings goes to the government the one-time lump sum is chosen. The man will still walk away with a hefty sum of $634,517, enough money to take his girlfriend on that European dream vacation they’ve always talked about.
“We’ve always wanted to go to Scotland, and this will give us the opportunity to do that.
“Maybe next time my girlfriend won’t be as skeptical when I’m feeling lucky and want to buy a Lottery ticket.”
Lesson: Whatever your girlfriend tells you to do, do the opposite and reap the benefits. (Just kidding, that would just be insane).

If this happened on campus, Stanford should issue a clear public update and specific safety actions.

Agree. People need facts and process, not silence. The school should confirm what is being investigated.

Also important to separate verified details from rumors so this does not spiral online.

The death threat part is extremely serious. Hoping law enforcement and campus security are already involved.

This is where official reporting and support channels need to be visible and easy to access.

Can NextShark keep a timeline thread here as updates come in? That would help keep context in one place.
