Oscar-winning actress Michelle Yeoh is set to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking another historic milestone in her decades-long career and cementing her legacy as one of the most prominent Asian figures in global cinema.
About the honoree: The 63-year-old star first gained international recognition in Hong Kong action films before starring in global releases including “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “Memoirs of a Geisha” and Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce selected Yeoh in the Motion Pictures category as part of its upcoming class of honorees in Los Angeles.
Among industry’s permanent honorees: The Hollywood Walk of Fame, established in 1960, recognizes achievements in motion pictures, television, recording, radio and live performance. Yeoh will be honored with the 2,836th star on Wednesday, Feb. 18, in front of the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Directors Jon M. Chu and Ang Lee will serve as emcees, joined by Emmy Award-winning entertainment journalist Jenelle Riley as guest speaker.
Recognition follows historic Oscar win: The Walk of Fame honor follows Yeoh’s historic win at the 95th Academy Awards in March 2023, when she became the first Asian woman to win the best actress award for her role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once.” Born in Ipoh, Malaysia, Yeoh built her career across Hong Kong and Hollywood productions over more than four decades, earning acclaim for her work in action cinema and dramatic roles alike.
