OG beauty YouTuber Michelle Phan recently shared she has also received many of the racist remarks that Asian people get during the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (or 2019-nCoV).
In her Twitter post on Friday, the 32-year-old YouTuber and co-founder of Ipsy shared a screenshot where she replied to a racist comment targeting Asian people amid the 2019-nCoV outbreak, according to Insider.
She then backed up on her tweet, reminding people that most of what people own in the United States was made in China in the first place.
“I’d like to remind the people who’ve been racist towards Asians because of the coronavirus. 90% of everything you own was made in China including your phone. Bye,” Phan said.
Phan then responded to some of the ignorant messages that she had been recieving.
“Why are some of you telling me to go back to eating bats? I’m American you ignorant fu**s,” Phan wrote in her tweet.
In her last post concerning the matter, Phan expressed her disbelief in what is happening.
Phan, who was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Vietnamese refugee parents, was raised in Tampa, Florida. She took a took year break before making a comeback on YouTube in September 2019.
