Mercedes Owner Kills Pedestrian, Laughs That He Has ‘Full Insurance Coverage’

The cellphone video, which was taken on the sidewalk in Yongzhou, Hunan province, China, shows the tragic result when the executive’s Mercedes Benz plowed into a sidewalk pole. A female pedestrian was crushed between the car and the pole and died as a result, according to The Paper via Shanghaiist.

Onlookers gathered around the scene of the crime and asked the driver why he was being reckless. However, instead of showing remorse for what he did to the unsuspecting pedestrian, he actually smirked and boastfully said, “I have full insurance coverage,” before walking away from the person taking the video.

The man, whose name was not mentioned in the report, was reportedly taken into police custody.

Chinese netizens, meanwhile, criticized the man for his cocky attitude and for not showing guilt for his crime. “Even the best insurance won’t help you escape prison,” one person wrote.

“He may have a lot of money, but he has no humanity,” another person said.
