Mercedes is Selling This Limited Edition Yacht That Starts at $1.7 Million
If you’ve always wanted a unique ocean vessel and have a couple million dollars to spare, luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz may have the one for you — if you act fast.
Mercedes-Benz Style, the German automobile manufacturer’s design sub-brand, will be producing only 10 Edition 1 models of its first-ever ocean vehicle, the Arrow 460 Grantourismo Edition Yacht, which it debuted four years ago as a concept at the 2012 Monaco Yacht Show. The base model will cost buyers $1.7 million.
To further its exclusivity, Mercedes will be selling each of the 10 Arrow 460 Grantourismos to owners in different countries.
“By ensuring that the yachts all go to different countries we can guarantee that just one individual in each country will be able to say: ‘I am the first captain of the first Silver Arrow of the seas,’” said Ron Gibbs, the chairman of Silver Arrow Marine, which collaborated with Mercedes on the project, to Luxurious Magazine.
“We are already in discussions with potential owners and reservations are now being taken on a first-come, first-served basis.”
Described as the “Silver Arrow of the Seas” because its design draws inspiration from the company’s famous racing cars of the same name from the 1930s, the yacht is 47 feet of what Mercedes claims is “technical superiority at its most beautiful.”
The Arrow 460 Grantourismo can travel up to a top speed of over 40 knots (46 mph), made possible by twin 480-horsepower Yanmar diesel engines.
Up to 10 passengers aboard each yacht will be able to appreciate its eucalyptus wood-paneled floors and walls, nubuck leather interiors and auto-dimming windows.
The Arrow 460 Grantourismo will also have a designer bathroom, wine cellar, ice machine, premium audio system, and air conditioning.
