Meet Ytiet, a TikTok star from Vietnam’s Binh Dinh Province whose melodic counting has propelled him to the international music scene.
The content creator, whose real name is So Y Tiet, is a 34-year-old cowherd whose work has been sampled by celebrities from around the world.
Most recently, critically acclaimed Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalía sampled one of his songs in her track “CUUUUuuuuuute” from her third studio album “Motomami,” released in March.

The content creator gained popularity in 2020 after posting TikTok and YouTube videos of himself singing and rapping days of the week, letters of the alphabet and numbers in English, among others. His TikTok account has attracted more than 3 million followers so far, and his YouTube channel boasts over half a million subscribers.
Several YouTubers have even made covers of his work over the years.
Singer-songwriter Chris Brown and singer Justin Bieber were among the first international stars who reposted his videos on their official social media accounts. Rapper Snoop Dogg, actor Viola Davis, singer Rihanna and rapper Cardi B have posted about the rising star as well.
In December 2020, Ytiet’s popularity skyrocketed even further after Wiz Khalifa released his track “Number Song (From 41 to 49),” which features Ytiet’s counting song “41.” The music video for “Numbers” currently has almost 5 million views on YouTube.
In 2021, Ytiet released music videos for his songs “Are You OK?” and “Do You Know.”
Despite his newfound fame, the TikTok star continues to share videos of his life in his rural village, where he cooks traditional dishes and herds cows.

If this happened on campus, Stanford should issue a clear public update and specific safety actions.

Agree. People need facts and process, not silence. The school should confirm what is being investigated.

Also important to separate verified details from rumors so this does not spiral online.

The death threat part is extremely serious. Hoping law enforcement and campus security are already involved.
