The McDonald’s located at the Springleaf Tower in the central business district, gave away the exclusive hoodies ahead of the launch of the McGriddles, a favorite breakfast sandwich that returns to the island for a limited time.
Dave, the first customer in line, queued for nearly 12 hours. He arrived at the branch around 10 p.m. on Feb. 26, two hours before the queue officially opened, according to Asia One.
However, tickets for the exclusive hoodie were given out around 8:00 a.m. the next day — and only 100 people made the cut.
The hype resulted in two lines: an official queue, where Dave was, and an unofficial queue, which was made of hopefuls waiting for official queuers to walk out.
In the end, some lucky customers received the “certified limited edition” hoodie, which came with an authenticity card.
Whoever actually ends up wearing the hoodie is a different story, as some hoodies have been put on Carousell, a reselling app.
As of this writing, at least eight listings are available, with prices ranging from $50 ($37) to $255 Singapore dollars ($189).
McGriddles however, are available with or without egg and may be purchased a-la-carte or with a meal. It’s unclear how long they will be on the menu in Singapore.
