Man Who Got Knocked Out By a Friend is Why You Never Pay for the Bill in China
By Carl Samson
How would you feel if a friend knocked you out right after you’ve treated him to a satisfying meal?
That’s exactly what happened to a man in China, who, after paying their restaurant bill, was knocked unconscious by his own friend.
The incident happened at around 5 a.m. on Oct. 25 at a restaurant in Guangzhou’s Yuexiu District, the Nanfang Daily reported.
In observance of China’s long-held tradition of “saving face” by paying at the end of a meal, the two men, coming from a group of diners, ended up in a power struggle.
At the end of it, 25-year-old Zhong emerged as the winner, paying the bill for the group’s meal.
This made 22-year-old Ou “lose face,” so he attacked Zhong as they left the restaurant’s premises.
Zhong was knocked unconscious and was brought to the hospital. On the other hand, bitter Ou was arrested by authorities.
The case is still under investigation.
