Man in China Allegedly Throws Pets Out the 21st Floor Apartment During Fight With Wife

Residents were shocked after finding dead bodies of a dog and a cat outside a residential high-rise in Chongqing, China Thursday last week.
The incident reportedly happened on September 6 at around 5 p.m. when a woman, whose name was not mentioned in the report, heard a loud thump on the ground while she was walking her dog in the city near the high-rise residential.
She was shocked when she saw the two animals, one cat and one golden retriever, believed to be named Jack, lying lifeless on the ground, according to Shanghaiist.
In the clip posted on social media, the woman can be heard crying as she tries to pet the head of the pooch lying on the ground.
She immediately recognized Jack explaining that him and her dog would sometimes play together, and that she knows the owner. However, when she tried to reach them out, the man stated that he doesn’t care about the animals and that they could do whatever they want with it.
And so, the woman, with the help of other locals who witnessed the gruesome scene, wrapped the body of the two dead animals with a blanket and buried them at a nearby location, she told the reporters.
A reporter tried to get in touch with the owner of the animals the following day as part of an investigation into what happened, but to no avail. However, the journalist heard rumors circulating that the man did not want to keep the animals in their home after discovering that his wife was pregnant.
It was reported that this could probably be the cause of the poor animals’ untimely death when the husband threw both of them from the 21st floor of the high-rise residential. Locals also noticed that the cat was pregnant after they saw its dead body.
After the news was posted on China’s Twitter-like social media platform Weibo and went viral, many people condemned what the man did to the animal and wondered if something like happened again, who knows what damage he could cause.
“I just cannot understand these kinds of people’s way of thinking,” one user wrote in the comment, What’s On Weibo reported. “They now throw a dog, what will they throw next time?”
“[If you no longer want your pets], you could just give them away, instead of cruelly throwing them to their death. Also – if someone would’ve walked there, they might have died, too,” another one wrote.
Another user even pointed out that what the man did is not exactly what a father would do. “He’s surely not fit to be a father,” the user said.
In the days after the gruesome incident, the owner posted a notice at the building apologizing about the disturbance that happened, and claiming that the cat and dog’s death were “purely accidental.” The notice did not, however, explain how the two animals managed to jump from the 21st floor of the building.
