Britain’s Got Talent has probably seen its fair share of heart-stopping moments, but nothing compares to the time Andrew Lee threw a knife straight at the show’s co-host, Declan Donnelly, known as the other half of the Ant & Dec tandem.
Lee, a mentalist, illusionist, and magician from Malaysia, appeared on Britain’s Got Talent earlier this month to demonstrate a rather dangerous magic trick involving ordinary playing cards, a large plank of wood, a blindfold, and a very sharp-looking knife.
The act basically starts as soon as Lee pulls out an ordinary deck of cards, but what made the judges excited and curious was when he said he likes to add dangers to his tricks.
So he called Ant and Dec to join him up on stage.
Lee asked the oblivious Dec to choose a card from a pile and ripped a corner of the card as a “receipt.” Then, a wooden cushion was brought to the stage and put on the front side of Dec’s body with a strap around his neck.
You can almost see the nervousness on Dec’s face, but it’s just the beginning. Lee then took out a blindfold that he put on Dec but tricked the co-host by removing it and putting it on himself.
Lee had the audience count up to three so Anthony McPartlin, famously known as Ant, would know when to throw the cards up in the air.
After doing so, the blindfolded Lee threw the knife onto the board placed on Dec’s body and magically hit the card that the co-host chose beforehand.
How did he do it? Magic!
