Japanese filmmaker Makoto Shinkai, who directed hit films “Your Name” (“Kimi no Na wa”) and “Weathering with You” (“Tenki no Ko”), is back with a trailer for his newest film “
The film’s plot centers around 17-year-old Suzume, who encounters a mysterious man searching for a door. Suzume finds the door and opens it, leading more doors across Japan to open and wreak havoc. Suzume must amend her mistake and close the doors once again.
In a press release for the film, Shinkai highlighted that the film is a Japanese road trip movie that is more about “closing doors” than opening them.
The trailer, released April 10, keeps a lot under wraps, but it is beautifully animated.
“Suzume no Tojimari” is scheduled for release in Japanese theaters on November 11th. A worldwide release date has not yet been announced.
