Paramount+ has announced the acquisition of the romance film “Love in Taipei,” based on Abigail Hing Wen’s New York Times bestselling young adult novel “Loveboat, Taipei.”
However, instead of the expected educational experience, Ever finds herself immersed in the “Loveboat” program, a summer-long adventure filled with romance and self-discovery. As Ever navigates her attraction to two different boys, she also must gather the courage to pursue her true passion for dancing and defy her parents’ high expectations.
Nico Hiraga, recognized for his performances in “Booksmart” and “Moxie,” plays Xavier Yeh, a carefree artist and heir to a multinational tech empire.
Chelsea Zhang, who appeared in “Daybreak” and “Titans,” portrays Sophie, a friend Ever makes during her time at Loveboat. Meanwhile, Cindy Cheung, notable for her work in “The Sinner” and “13 Reasons Why,” plays Aunt Shu.
The film, directed by Arvin Chen, was shot on location in Taipei.
Charlie Oh and Mackenzie Dohr adapted the screenplay. Wen, Butler, Cheng-Chung Chang, Christopher Foss, Matthew Janzen, Max Siemers and Aubrey Bendix serve as executive producers.
“Love in Taipei” will premiere exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada this summer.
