Indian-Canadian YouTube star Lilly Singh is set to become the first woman to host a late-night talk show on a broadcast network since 1986.
The 30-year-old internet personality, who runs the YouTube channel IISuperwomanII, will star in her new show “A Little Late with Lilly Singh” starting in September at 1:35 a.m., according to NBC’s announcement on Thursday, BuzzFeed reported.
The program will take over the spot of “Last Call With Carson Daly.”

Singh also made an official announcement during her guest appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
In a statement, Singh wrote: “An Indian-Canadian woman with her own late night show? Now that is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to bring it to life on NBC, and I hope my parents consider this to be as exciting as a grandchild.”
The announcement came just a month after NBC announced that “Last Call With Carson Daly” was coming to an end.
Singh is only the second woman to host a late-night talk show. The late Joan Rivers paved the way as the host of “The Late Show with Joan Rivers,” which ran from 1986 to 1988 on Fox.
“A Little Late with Lilly Singh” will include comedy sketches and in-studio interviews.
