A 17-year-old teen from Capitol Heights, Maryland, was charged as an adult for killing 59-year-old laundromat employee Fu Tian Yan last Thursday.

Officers were notified of the fatal incident and responded around 7:15 p.m. along the 6700 block of Walker Mill Road in Capitol Heights, ABC 7 WJLA reported.

The police arrived to find Yan lying inside the laundromat, suffering multiple stab wounds to his upper body.

The victim was immediately taken to the hospital but died shortly from his injuries, WTOP reported.

Prince George’s County Police (PGPD) identified the suspect of the fatal stabbing as Mekhi Loving, who lives near Coin-Op Laundry.

He was arrested afterward, with investigators believing his motive was to steal money from the business.

Loving was charged with first-degree murder and related charges. He is currently being held at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status.
