Former IZ*ONE leader Kwon Eun-bi returns with a splash in the music video for “Underwater,” the title track of her newest mini-album “Lethality.”
In a press showcase for her Wednesday comeback, Kwon explained that similar to “the lexical meaning of the word ‘lethality,’ my goal with the album is to reveal my fatal attraction to the audience.” This is manifested through six tracks in total: “WAVE,” “Underwater,” “Croquis,” “Simulation,” “Flash” and “Hi,” the last of which Kwon wrote herself.
“Lethality” commemorates Kwon’s first anniversary since her solo debut in August last year. It is a follow-up to her second EP “Color,” which was released in April.
She considers “Croquis” to be a direct sequel to her title track “Glitch” from “Color,” which was released in April.
In 2018, Kwon competed in the Mnet reality singing show “Produce 48,” where she would go on to become a member and the elected leader of K-pop girl group IZ*ONE. She became the first former member of IZ*ONE to go solo following the group’s disbandment in April 2021. She released her solo debut in August last year with her EP “Open.”
Several other former IZ*ONE members have released their own music projects as well this year. Lee Chae-yeon debuted her solo album “Lethality” on Wednesday, and Yena dropped her sophomore EP “Smartphone” in August. That same month, Yujin and Won-young – now current members of girl group IVE – released their comeback “After Like.” Back in June, Jo Yu-ri released her EP “Op.22 Y-Waltz: in Major,” with its sequel “Op.22 Y-Waltz: in Minor” set to be released on Oct. 24. In May, HYBE girl group Le Sserafim, which includes former IZ*ONE members Sakura and Chaewon, debuted with the album “FEARLESS.” They are slated for their comeback next week with their sophomore mini-album “ANTIFRAGILE.”
