Kind Locals Pay 70-Year-Old Street Cleaner Who Lost His 3-Month Salary

Last Thursday, Cheng Yanxin was on his way home carrying an envelope with three months worth of his salary. It was a hard-earned 3,360 yuan ($490).

But just before reaching his house, Cheng noticed that the envelope suddenly disappeared! He tried looking for it, but to no avail.

Cheng’s heartbreaking story soon reached Zhao Ping, a worker from the restaurant he frequented, Shanghaiist said.

Zhao immediately took Cheng’s situation to WeChat, sharing how much money he had lost.

It did not take long before the post went viral and offers to help started coming in.

Eventually, a man named Liu found Cheng’s and returned “his envelope.” However, the street cleaner knew it was not his envelope, seeing that it was labeled with marker instead of a pen.

Liu had no choice but admit that the cash came from his circle of friends. With an additional 600 yuan ($87), Cheng could not be more grateful:
