More details about Ke Huy Quan’s role in the upcoming season of “Loki” on Disney+ have been revealed, promising an exciting twist on the show’s fictional timeline-monitoring organization, the Time Variance Authority (TVA).
Meet tech expert OB: In “Loki” Season 2, Quan, 52, takes on the role of Ouroboros, or OB, a do-it-all technician at the TVA. According to co-executive producer Kevin Wright, OB is the go-to guy for everything tech-related within the TVA’s sprawling basement.
“His job is basically every piece of tech, every computer, everything that is running at the TVA. He either designed it, or he fixes it and keeps it running,” Wright explained to Entertainment Weekly
OB and the multiverse: OB’s expertise in managing technology could prove invaluable as the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) faces unprecedented instability following the events of “Loki” Season 1. Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (played by Owen Wilson) notably seek OB’s help to navigate a chaotic new reality.
An MCU fan: Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige reportedly reached out to Quan to pitch the project around the time “Everything Everywhere All at Once” hit theaters.
“I think Kevin Feige made a call maybe April 12, just to follow up and say, ‘Please, please do this,'” said Wright. “Little did we know, Ke is apparently already a giant Marvel fan and was a big fan of ‘Loki’ Season 1.”
Quan has previously admitted to being a fan of the MCU, having watched all of the franchise’s films and TV shows.
“I’ve been fantasizing about this for many, many years,” Quan was quoted as saying during the D23 Expo event last year. “All the way back to when the first ‘Iron Man’ came out. I saw all the movies in the theaters. I’ve seen all the films. I constantly watch on YouTube how passionate and enthusiastic these fans are. So to be up on stage today with Sophia and Tom and Owen and Kevin and to be on the receiving end of that… It’s just been incredible.”
