TC Candler and The Independent Critics have released this year’s edition of “The 100 Most Beautiful Faces” and K-pop stars have reigned supreme on the annual list once again.
In the rankings released on December 27, Tzuyu, of K-pop girl group Twice, was named the “Most Beautiful Face” in the world for 2019.
The 20-year-old Taiwan-born singer took the top spot, which held last year by French model Thylane Blondeau.
Other K-pop stars who made it on the list include BLACKPINK’s Lisa Manoban at number three and MOMOLAND’s Nancy at number 13.
Jennie, Rose and Jisoo, the other BLACKPINK members, landed at numbers 19, 66, and 78, respectively.
Notable Asian celebrities also made the list’s top ten, including previous number ones Liza Soberano (10th) and Nana (7th), as well as newcomer Naomi Scott (5th).
Meanwhile, Jungkook of BTS topped the “Most Handsome Face” list, dethroning past winner Jason Momoa.
Other BTS members also made it on the list, including V, who took the second spot, Jimin, who placed 19th and Jin, who landed at number 44.
Also present on the annual list are EXO members Lay, Sehun, Kai, and Chanyeol, who placed at numbers 12, 33, 63, and 75, respectively.
As for the other Asian men on the list, Chinese celebrities Xiao Zhan (6th) and Lay Zhang (12th) were among the top listed.
TC Candler and The Independent Critics have been publishing “The 100 Most Beautiful Faces” list annually since 1990.
The “List” is not a “popularity contest”
about “the sexiest body or the most famous celebrity,”
according to its official website
Each year, a group of about 20 people from different parts of the world come up with the list in an attempt to “broaden public opinion instead of reflecting it.”
Organized by TC Candler, the Independent Critics finalize 100 faces out of the approximately 105,000 individuals in a list “representative of the modern ideal of worldwide beauty.”
“Aesthetic perfection is only one of the criteria,” the site noted. “Grace, elegance, originality, daring, passion, class, poise, joy, promise, hope… they are all embodied in a beautiful face.”
