K-Pop Powerhouse BTS Just Made History AGAIN
By Kyle Encina
K-pop group BTS will become the first-ever Korean group to perform at ABC’s prestigious annual event “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” 2018.
However, BTS won’t be considered as the first Korean act since singer PSY took those honors with his performance during the iconic event back in 2013, according to Billboard. This doesn’t change the fact that the K-pop group will achieve another historical feat on December 31 since earning a spot at the Guinness Book of World Records.
The South Korean group made the announcement official by releasing a statement on Twitter that read “We’re honored to celebrate this amazing year and ring in 2018 by performing.” Fans of BTS collectively known as the ARMY were already ecstatic following the group’s official Twitter announcement as they reacted in glee.
Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy will serve as the event’s hosts in Time Square while Ciara will lead the event in Hollywood. ABC’s rocking annual event airs at 8 p.m. EST and will also feature performances from other artists such as Charlie Puth, Sugarland, Khalid, Marshmello, Nick Jonas, Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes and Kelly Clarkson.
