“StayC girls, it’s going down” again as the girl group released their newest single “We Need Love” today alongside the music video for the title track “Beautiful Monster.”

The single album comes complete with three other songs: “I Like It,” “Love” and a remix of their previously released title track “Run2U” from their February EP “Young-Luv.Com.” Every track on the album was composed and written by StayC’s High Up Entertainment executives Black Eyed Pilseung. Producers Rado and Flyt and veteran StayC collaborator Jeon Goon also assisted with song creation.

A behind-the-scenes video from StayC’s YouTube channel gives insight into the members’ and producers’ approach for their new album. Producer Rado says in the video, “I’d always tried to make music that would contribute something to K-pop. But this time, I just started out from thinking about what makes good music.”
The producers discussed how they wanted to use the album’s concept to better reflect the actual personalities of the members rather than the more aggressive style of their older works.
Speaking about “Beautiful Monster” specifically, member Sieun weighs in, saying, “I don’t think idol music can be defined as a genre, but it felt less like idol music. I really liked that about it.”
Member Yoon adds, “Our previous albums could be summarized as ‘Teen Fresh’, but that isn’t the right description for the new song.” Member J compares the new track to a love song, remarking it felt sad in a way and made her feel very emotional.
Other than working on the new comeback album, the six-member girl group performed at the KCON 2022 Premiere event in Chicago this last May. They are slated to headline KCON LA 2022 next month with other acts such as “Queendom” Season 2 winners WJSN, Cravity, Enhypen, Itzy, Nmixx, The Boyz, Loona, Kep1er, Lightsum, Ateez and NCT Dream, to name a few. It will be their first time attending KCON LA, which marks the event’s 10-year anniversary. As newcomers to KCON LA, StayC was selected alongside Cravity, Lightsum and TO1 for a six-city “KCON 2022 Rookies” U.S. tour following KCON LA’s conclusion. San Francisco will be the first stop on Aug. 23 before the tour wraps up up in New York City on Sept. 1.
