Korean Canadian singer-songwriter Junny released his debut studio album “blanc,” accompanied by a music video for the lead title track “Not About You.”
Junny wrote and composed the nine-track album himself. He received assistance with arranging from producer minGtion, who has previously produced music for superstar acts such as Twice, Taeyeon, Red Velvet, Loona and Apink
Three of the songs on “blanc” are collaborations: the two previously released singles “Color Me” featuring Chungha and “Get Ya!” with pH-1, as well as “Mugshot” featuring Une.
According to a press release from Unbound Entertainment Group, the album is “inspired by Junny’s thoughts on how he is influenced by those he spends his time with, resembling a blank canvas that absorbs many different colors.”
“With this project, he hopes to show the colors of his early and mid-twenties, with each track going back in time to explore Junny’s past experiences in chronological order,” the press release continues. “In this manner, ‘Blanc’ is a farewell to his youth and a look into how the artist plans to live his life moving forward.”
“blanc” is Junny’s first studio-length solo project since he debuted in 2017. Over the years, he has released multiple singles and EPs, such as the singles “Nostalgia” featuring Jay B of Got7 and “Hide and Sick.” He released his fifth and most recent EP, “Vivid, Pt. 2,” in 2019.
“blanc” aligns with Junny’s forthcoming North American tour of the same name, which will take him to 11 stops in the U.S. and Canada, starting in L.A. on Sept. 4 and ending in Montreal on Sept. 16.
Earlier this week, Dive Studios announced that Junny would be one of the hosts for Season 3 of their “Get Real” podcast and YouTube series.
