Netflix has dropped the teaser trailer for “Jung_E,” an upcoming film directed by South Korean filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho.
According to the streaming giant, the upcoming film will be set “in a post-apocalyptic near-future” and focus on a researcher at an artificial intelligence (AI) lab who “leads the effort to end a civil war by cloning the brain of a heroic soldier — her mother.”
“Jung_E” was written and directed by Yeon, who has worked on various films and TV series such as acclaimed action horror film “Train to Busan,” Netflix’s “Hellbound” and “Psychokinesis,” South Korea’s first mainstream superhero film.
The film’s cast includes Kim Hyun-joo, Kang Soo-yeon and Ryoo Kyung-soo, among others. In May, Kang, who plays the character Seohyun in “Jung_E,” died due to a stroke. The film will notably feature her last onscreen performance.
“Jung_E” will be available to stream on Netflix on Jan. 20, 2023.
