In a project titled “Unequal Scene”, Cape Town-based photographer Johnny Miller uses a drone to capture the inequality that exists in South Africa.
“Discrepancies in how people live are sometimes hard to see from the ground. The beauty of being able to fly is to see things from a new perspective – to see things as they really are,” Miller writes on his website.Johnny Miller
“Looking straight down from a height of several hundred meters, incredible scenes of inequality emerge.”Johnny Miller
Miller says that some of the communities were “designed with separation in mind,” while others grew “more or less organically.”
What you see in the photos is the result of Apartheid policies which were fortunately eliminated 22 years ago, however you can see that “many of these barriers, and the inequalities they have engendered, still exist.”Johnny Miller Johnny Miller Johnny Miller Johnny Miller
