Jeremy Lin Wore a ‘Boba’ Hoodie to the NBA Playoffs and You Can Get One Too
By Bryan Ke
Toronto Raptors’ point guard, Jeremy Lin, surprised many of his fans on May 8 when he arrived at the Raptors’ and Philadelphia 76ers’ game wearing a sweatshirt that honors the ultimate drink of the Asian American community: boba – or bubble tea.
The 30-year-old athlete also shared a picture of himself wearing the same “Boba” sweatshirt he wore at the game, Huffington Post reported. Included in the post is a long message that reads:
“Last nights playoff outfit is all about BOBA!Speakin of last night, huge team effort and crazyyy environment at Scotiabank thanks to the fans!! I lived off boba in high school and would have boba wars (think laser tag but w tapioca pearls). Some of my close friends cant go one day without drinkin it @jaychou lol.”
He then continued to explain how growing up, many Asian Americans have experienced being embarrassed of their Asian lunches at school to the point that their moms would “trade in our dumplings for sandwiches.”
Lin then gave a shoutout to “awesome Asian people” for “bridging cultures with our food and drinks,” adding, “We have so much culture to celebrate and offer to the world!”
If you’re wondering where you can get this “Boba” hoodie to twin with Jeremy Lin, don’t worry because we’ve got you covered.
The “Boba Guys Tile Hoodie” can be found on the Boba Guys website and is still available for $50 each.
