Mandopop king Jay Chou recently held a private concert for his children at Shanghai Arena in China as they did not get to watch their father perform.
The 40-year-old Taiwanese artist was in Shanghai for a concert over the weekend along with his family.
But his children, 4-year-old Hathaway and 2-year-old Romeo, weren’t able to see their dad bust a move on stage, according to The Straits Times.
“The next day, the ‘magician’ dad showed up in front of them in a concert that was meant only for them,” the artist’s 26-year-old actress-model wife, Hannah Quinlivan, said in an Instagram post.
Chou also shared pictures taken from the private concert as the two children watched their father perform for them, complete with light effects, crews and dancers.
“Thank you to all of the crew and performers from my new tour who took the afternoon to execute a dedicated show for just Hathaway and Romeo,” the artist said in an Instagram post. “Please keep up the great work! And let’s keep this concert tour rocking.”
Speaking about the private concert, Chou said he had spent an entire afternoon preparing for this special event.
“There was no one in the audience. They sat in the middle and it was a lot of fun,” he said via Today Online. “I gathered the band and the dancers for hair and make-up early in the morning. But the audience was just two kids. I don’t know how they felt about that. But the kids were really high.”
