Japanese Company Creates Adorable Sea Creature Tea Bags
By Ryan General
After remaining virtually unchanged in the last several decades, a Japanese company has given modern tea bag packaging a refreshing update.
Ocean Teabag recently unveiled its package redesign with a series of animal-themed tea bags that seem to “come alive” when immersed in a cup of hot water.
The brand worked with oddity shop Village Vanguard to create original tea bags that resemble sea animals such as jellyfish, octopus, and isopods which appear to be swimming in your tea.
Ocean Teabag is a young company that started 3 years ago and currently consists of 10 people. Their first design was a dolphin tea bag before they eventually added more unique designs.
There are currently over 50 types of unique tea bags in their online shop.
A set of the adorable tea bags costs 1,820 yen ($16), according to Bored Panda. Each animal design comes with its own unique tea flavor.
Among the most popular designs is the squid-shaped tea bag, which contains black Pu’er tea which resembles squid ink when prepared in hot water. The octopus tea bag is filled with Keemun tea while the penguin-shaped tea bag has Chamomile in it.
Ocean Teabag is reportedly looking into creating designs that can move and glow in the future.
