Japanese Mom Thanks Hardworking Husband With $180 and a Day Off
By Bryan Ke
A wife is winning the hearts of many Japanese netizens online after her husband’s post became viral detailing how she gave him a special “thank you” gift for being a good and hardworking husband and father.
Twitter user Hiroto (@chanhanaaaaaa) shared the heartwarming gift that his wife gave him when he got home one day.
Upon arriving in their home, Hiroto was surprised to see an envelope with the Japanese word kansha (“with appreciation”) written on the front that his wife prepared for him and inside it contains a hand-written note as well as 20,000 yen ($180), according to SoraNews24.
“I’m so grateful to my wife,” Hiroto wrote in the caption. “Off to enjoy my day off!”
The note reads, as translated by SoraNews24:
“A present for you: One day off
● Any day is OK. Let me know when you pick one.
● You can spend the money however you want (playing pachinko, going to a hot spring, going out to eat, going out to drink, etc.).
● Come home whenever you feel like it (just don’t be extremely late)
● On that day, when you’re at home, you don’t have to do anything.
This is a present for you for being a dad who’s always working so hard every day. Thank you, always.”
Hiroto and his wife got married in late 2017. Then, last spring, the young couple welcomed their first child – a healthy, chubby-cheeked little girl.
A lot of netizens were pretty moved by the heart-melting gesture that Hiroto’s wife did for him, some of them wrote:
“Even more than the money, it’s the letter that feels special. You can tell how deep your love for one another is.”
“I read this first thing in the morning, and it’s so touching. I’m sure the two of you will always be happy together.”
“Definitely a strong candidate for wife of the year.”
