A Japanese man refused to talk to his wife for 20 years even though they lived under the same roof.
Otou Katayama and his wife, Yumi, have been living in Nara, Japan, with their three children.
But in the last 20 years, Otou had not spoken to Yumi, according to their 18-year-old son Yoshiki. Otou responded to Yumi in mere nods and grunts.

According to Daily Mail, Yoshiki sought help from a TV program, which set the couple on a date at a nearby park.

Yoshiki and his siblings watched from a distance as their parents spoke for the first time in the longest while.
Surprisingly, Otou initiated the conversation and revealed he was jealous of the attention Yumi gave their own kids.
“Somehow… It’s been quite a while since the two of us have talked. You were so concerned about the kids.”

At this point, their children started crying. Otou went on:
“Yumi, up until now, you have endured a lot of hardship… I want you to know I’m grateful for everything.”

Yumi responded in gratitude, but Otou wasn’t finished:
“I also want to talk after this. I hope we can work together from here.”

If this happened on campus, Stanford should issue a clear public update and specific safety actions.

Agree. People need facts and process, not silence. The school should confirm what is being investigated.

Also important to separate verified details from rumors so this does not spiral online.

The death threat part is extremely serious. Hoping law enforcement and campus security are already involved.

This is where official reporting and support channels need to be visible and easy to access.
