A Japanese man has chosen the moniker “Phoenix Luna” after his miraculous recovery from life-threatening injuries he sustained from a stabbing attack.
Phoenix Luna, a 20-year-old man from Ibaraki Prefecture, works as a host at Club Fusion by Youth in Shinjuku’s Kabukicho neighborhood. In Japan, male hosts, also known as male geishas, are typically paid to keep female guests company and entertain them.

He was nearly stabbed to death at around 4 p.m. on May 23 by a 21-year-old woman identified later as Yuka Takaoka, a woman he had just started to live with a few days prior, Soranews24 reports.
Based on police reports, Takaoka was arrested for attempted murder after gravely stabbing her victim with a kitchen knife in their apartment.

The woman would later admit in her confession that she was having an “unhealthy level of obsession” for her live-in partner. She reportedly thought that the best way for them to be together was to watch him die before also killing herself.
Following the attack, Luna remained unconscious for five days before making his miraculous recovery. He reportedly started going back to work this month.
