Japanese company Muji, also known as Mujirushi Ryohin, became a huge success thanks to their minimalist concepts and designs.
Around two years ago, the company decided to extend their design capabilities to houses, which produced the project called “Muji Hut.” The hut was originally released as a prototype, but after customers took interest in the tiny house, the company took a u-turn and announced that their very first Muji hut is up for sale for $32,000, excluding other additional expenses.
According to Japan Today, the hut it is only available for customers in Japan and the company has not announced plans to make them outside of the country.
But for those who are interested, Muji provided specific details of the house which can be seen on their website. The Muji Hut has a floor size of 9 square meters (96.87 square feet) and a porch area of 3 square meters (32.3 square feet). As expected, the design and materials are simple and minimal.
The inner walls are made from Japanese cypress plywood while the outer wall is made from burnt cedar with an oil stain finish and the floor has a mortar finish.
The company said that the hut is ideal for singles and couples who are leaning towards tiny living spaces.
For those who are interested, the hut is available for inspection for only ten groups of four people on a daily basis, during 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. from April 29 to May 7. It is located in a complex known as the Shirahama School House.
