A Japanese illustrator and manga artist has gone viral after posting his illustrations of banknotes featuring the Shiba Inu.
Ponkichi first shared his creation of a Shiba Inu banknote back in April 2019 with a 1,000 yen bill showing a Shiba Inu, which is considered Japan’s icon dog breed.

He created a Japanese yen bill in a much cuter, smaller denomination with the Mame Shiba Inu.

The Mame Shiba Inu, or mini, is much smaller in size. However, SoraNews24 pointed out that Japan has no bill for 500 yen as the country’s banknotes start at 1,000 yen.

Ponkichi’s latest design for the Japanese banknotes proved to be a massive success that merchandise, such as towels, smartphone cases, purses, keyholders and pass cases are now available for purchase.
