A new life-sized pillow featuring a half-naked anime girl designed to “straddle” its user will soon be available in Japan.
Created by Japanese cartoonist Miz Uury, the pillows with racy prints were reportedly inspired by the scantily-clad cartoon women he made that went viral on social media. According to the Mirror, Uury was able to bring his idea to the market with the help of Full Graphic Factory, which printed images of anime girls on peculiarly-shaped pillows.
In the NSFW marketing campaign for the product, a Japanese model offers a sensual guide on its proper use. The video, which has been widely shared on social media, focuses on the pillow’s main feature: its unique wrap-around legs.
While netizens have expressed a mix of amusement and confusion, Uury has pointed out the pillows are made of a soft fabric that is actually comfortable to use.
“I’m so happy it’s finally here. There’s a lot of excitement building up to their release,” Uury was quoted as saying. “They’re great for relaxing and watching TV or for getting a good night’s sleep if you’re a back pain sufferer.”
Body pillows are nothing new in Japan, but designers have been continuously coming up with new ways to take how they look to the next level. The latest trend, which saw the anime characters being incorporated in the designs, has been quite popular among Japanese customers.
To be sold for just three days, the pillows will be available at the Winter Comiket event next month. Those who are interested to have a straddling pillow will be able to make their purchase in Tokyo on December 29, 30, and 31.
