If you’ve ever dreamed of being a ninja, here’s your chance to finally have the most badass profession there is.
Central Japan’s Aichi prefecture is on the hunt for highly-skilled, English-speaking ninjas to promote tourism. The listing posted on its website says it is looking for six prospective ninjas with acrobatic and martial arts skills.
Tourism representative Satoshi Adachi told the AFP that the newly hired ninjas will receive a one-year contract with monthly pay of 180,000 yen ($1,580) plus bonus.
Its post, titled “Wanted: Full-time Ninjas,” said the city is not looking for someone with stealth skills or previous stealthy assassination experience. Those with a love for Japanese culture and are friendly to kids are preferred. The modern ninjas will be expected to perform choreographed ninja stunts, put on shuriken demonstrations, and pose for photographs with tourists.
Our ninjas also have to be good at talking to promote tourism, although ninjas are basically required to be secretive,” Adachi said.
He added that they will also “have to be able to do backward handsprings and some dance moves.
The position will be open to men and women of all nationalities aged 18 or above until March 22. A month-long training course is scheduled to start in April for the successful candidates.
