K-pop girl group IVE have returned with “After LIKE,” their new comeback single.
The song, which was released on Monday, is a follow-up to “LOVE DIVE” in April and their debut “ELEVEN” last year. “After LIKE” is part of the Starship Entertainment group’s newest single album which also contains one other side track titled “My Satisfaction.”
Starship Entertainment confirmed last week that “After LIKE” samples Gloria Gaynor’s legendary 1978 hit “I Will Survive.” Gaynor’s disco track was deemed “culturally, historically, or artistically significant” by the Library of Congress in 2016 and selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry. While Gaynor’s hit does not include a rap, “After LIKE” does, with lyrics written by IVE member Rei and South Korean rapper Mad Clown.
The six-member girl group is composed of An Yu-jin and Jang Won-young, who are both former IZ*ONE members, as well as Japanese member Rei and Korean members Gaeul, LIZ and LEESEO. They are Starship Entertainment’s newest girl group and are labelmates to “Queendom” Season 2 winners WJSN, who released their comeback album “Sequence” in July and performed at KCON LA 2022 this past weekend.
In July, members Won-Young and LEESEO were a part of Starship Entertainment’s annual track for Pepsi, with this year’s collaboration titled “BLUE & BLACK.” They were joined by members from Oh My Girl and Cravity. Back in June, Ahn Yu-jin was featured in the song “Move Like This” with soloist Kang Daniel and Olympic ice skater Kim Yuna.
