Three upcoming Donnie Yen films have been revealed by the Hong Kong-based Mandarin Motion Pictures at the Cannes Film Festival.
The revealed films were “Ip Man 5,” “Flash Point Resurgence” and “Misjudgement.” Yen’s anticipated return to cinema arrives very soon after his success as Caine in “John Wick: Chapter 4.”
One Yen’s most popular movies, “Ip Man” is a Hong Kong martial arts series based on real life events of the Wing Chun martial artist by the same name. The series’ previous installment, “Ip Man 4: The Finale,” was released in 2019 and generated approximately $239 million worldwide.
To the delight of fans, Yen also shared the poster for “Ip Man 5” on his Instagram on Thursday.
Yen’s second film, “Flash Point Resurgence” is the sequel to the 2007 “Flash Point,” which was a box office hit during its two-month theatrical run in China. Yen’s role in the film’s fight choreography won him awards at both the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Horse Film Awards.
Details for Yen’s third film released, “Misjudgement,” have yet to be revealed.
The 2023 Cannes Film Festival – taking place from May 16 to May 27 – is one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals. Featuring a large selection of international films, the festival celebrates upcoming films.
