Instant Noodles Can Make Your Baby Gay, According to One Indonesian Mayor

An Indonesian mayor is in the news for suggesting that infants who consume canned formula and instant foods are at risk of becoming gay due to malnutrition.
Arief R. Wismansyah, the mayor of Tangerang, a city 25 kilometers west of the capital Jakarta, was speaking at a seminar on pregnancy called “The First 1,000 Days of Life for Tangerang City” at the Tangerang City Health Office on Tuesday. Arief was quoted by Okezone:
“To create Indonesian children that are healthy smart and competitive, the most important thing is, from the beginning, to provide them adequate nutrition, especially breastfeeding.”
Arief reportedly went on to explain that because of busy work schedules, parents resort to feeding their infants and children canned milk or formula and instant foods, most closely referring to instant noodles. Within the first fews years of life, a child’s nutrition is extremely important because malnutrition can cause permanent damage.
However, it’s how Arief ended his push for feeding children nutritious foods that caught everyone’s attention:
“So, it’s no wonder that recently there are more LGBT,” he stated, making a link between homosexuality and the permanent damage caused by malnutrition.
Of course, science has explained numerous times that homosexuality is most likely based on a genetic and biological basis from birth, but good nutrition for infants and children in third-world countries is still important — it’s just instant noodles probably can’t make a baby gay.
