Indonesian actor Andien Aisyah shares Barbie-inspired looks with traditional attire
Indonesian actor and singer Andien Aisyah has gone viral for flaunting Barbie-inspired looks using traditional Indonesian garments.
“Barbie Wastra”: In her now-viral TikTok video, Aisyah showcases six different looks consisting of kebayas, a kemben (torso wrap) and a batik dress with a selendang (sash).
Aisyah’s seven-second video also includes the Barbie logo with the word “wastra,” which is Indonesian for attire or garment.
Reactions: The TikTok video, which was posted on Aug. 14, has since garnered more than 400,000 views, with many local viewers praising the actor’s creativity. Other users have also petitioned for Mattel to release more Barbie dolls in Southeast Asian traditional clothing.
“This edition of Barbie is so pretty!” one TikTok user commented.
“If Mattel sold these Barbies, they’d definitely sell out!” another user wrote.
Due to the video’s popularity, Aisyah released a second clip on Sunday that features a closer look at all of her Barbie-inspired outfits.
