IKEA’s First Philippines Store Will Be the World’s LARGEST
By Carl Samson
The world’s largest IKEA store is expected to open in the Philippines next year.
The store, set to be located at the country’s biggest mall complex — Mall of Asia in Pasay, Metro Manila — will cover an area of at least 65,000 square meters (700,000 square feet).
That massive space is equal to over 150 basketball courts, according to Christian Rojkjaer, managing director for Ikea Southeast Asia.
While its two-level shopping area has the same size as other IKEA stores, the space will include facilities such as a warehouse, an e-commerce hub and a call center.
The outlet will also have a restaurant and a playroom.
In total, the outlet will have five floors, while walkways will be built to connect it to the main mall.
More than 8,000 products are expected to arrive at the store, according to its official website.
With operational stability, more than 7.2 million visitors are expected to visit the store annually.
