The parents of one special child in Hunan, China are desperately trying to raise money for surgery to help their baby who was born with 15 fingers and 16 toes but no thumbs.
The baby, Honghong, is now three months old. He suffers from polydactyly, a rare birth defect that results in extra digits. Honghong unfortunately got the condition from his mother who also has the condition.
The parents claim that pre-natal scans showed no indication of any deformity after visiting a hospital in Shenzhen where doctors told them that their baby would be perfectly normal after several scans.
For Honghong, his surgery will be difficult, expensive, and must be performed before his bones set between the age of 6 months to a year. The family is now relying on the kindness of strangers and friends to raise money for the operation which will likely cost tens of thousands of dollars.
