Pigeon Gets Tear-Gassed in HK Protests, Protesters Stop to Help

A video of people showing kindness to a helpless creature has emerged amid the violence permeating in the months of protests in Hong Kong.

The clip, posted on the Reddit thread r/HongKong by user Little_Lightbulb, featured a pigeon that got tear-gassed along with the human protesters.

To help the bird out, people started rinsing the pigeon’s head with water. They also comforted the distressed animal by petting it. A portion of the clip showed the pigeon drinking water from a bottle cap.

Throughout the video, the bird refused to fly away and remained next to the people helping out.

While no information was provided about where exactly the video was taken, Hong Kong police reportedly used tear gas in Tsim Sha Tsui shopping district over the weekend as protests continued to escalate.

Thousands of Hong Kongers have been pouring into the streets for the anti-government march despite authorities’ warnings.

The protests began in Hong Kong back in June to oppose an extradition bill that would allow suspected criminals to be tried in China. While the bill has since been scrapped, the ongoing protests have evolved into a pro-democracy movement.
