Japanese American filmmaker Hiro Murai is set to make his feature film directorial debut with a secret project starring longtime collaborator Donald Glover and superstar Rihanna.
It was speculated earlier this year that Glover and Rihanna were working on a project together after the two stars were spotted in Cuba late last summer.
Filming for the movie, purportedly titled “Guava Island,” has been kept under wraps until its trailer was unveiled at the Pharos Festival in New Zealand over the weekend.
While no official footage has been released to the public as of this writing, a fan recording of the trailer’s premiere has already emerged on social media, generating excitement among fans.
The film, which features Glover’s Childish Gambino alter ego, is apparently an unconventional thriller about a musician planning to pull off a heist to have a better life with his onscreen partner.
The film also allegedly stars Letitia Wright and Nonso Anozie.
