One thing you might notice is that getting into the one percent is actually more attainable than you might think based on where you live. For example, you need to make almost $500,000 in California to be in the richest 1%, but for Arkansas, it only takes $228,000. Connecticut, for reasons that are beyond me, sets the highest bar, requiring a whopping $678,000 in annual income for the coveted 1% club.
