Henry Golding Becomes First Asian ‘Men Of The Year’ Cover Star on GQ
By Ryan General
“Crazy Rich Asians” star Henry Golding has added another feather in his cap by making history as the first Asian GQ “Men Of The Year” cover star.
GQ revealed on Monday that the hunky actor is featured on one of the magazine’s four “Men (and Woman) of the Year 2018” covers.
Receiving the honor alongside Golding in this year’s class of GQ cover stars are Michael B. Jordan, Serena Williams and Jonah Hill, according to Huffington Post.
Described by the magazine as its “star of the year,” Golding was reportedly chosen to be on the cover because of his breakout success starring in “Crazy Rich Asians.”
The GQ feature commended the British Malaysian actor for his accomplishments this year: “When Crazy Rich Asians hit theaters this summer, Hollywood held its breath waiting for the box office results, but anyone who knew anything about … well, anything could’ve predicted it’d be the smash it was. Beyond its success — and what a success it was — it minted Henry Golding as one of the industry’s must-hire new actors, and for good reason: He’s handsome, he’s suave, and that accent. A nation swooned, and GQ did too.”
Netizens celebrated the feature on Twitter, showering the star with congratulatory tweets:
His “Crazy Rich Asians” family were also equally festive about the cover.
