Zojirushi X Hello Kitty Releases Insanely Popular Limited-Edition Rice Cooker and Thermos

    Japanese appliance manufacturer Zojirushi and its U.S. branch Zojirushi America are releasing a limited-edition Hello Kitty rice cooker and stainless mug as part of the character’s 60th anniversary.

    The Zojirushi x Hello Kitty Automatic Rice Cooker & Warmer, which is exclusive only in the U.S. and Canada, was available through the official website and Amazon, according to CNET. It is currently unavailable for purchase online.

    The 5.5-cup cooker comes with an easy-to-use one-touch operation and sports gold Hello Kitty graphics on its white metal body. In addition to online, fans were able to nab this appliance from selected Sanrio stores, the company said in its listing.

    It retailed at $173 on Amazon.

    In addition to the rice cooker, Zojirushi is also releasing a limited-edition stainless mug with a 16-ounce (473-milliliter) capacity and a one-touch securely sealed lid design. It also sports similar golden Hello Kitty logos on its body.

    The stainless mug retailed at $51 on Amazon and comes in different colors.

    The collaboration Instagram post announcement by @zojirushiamera has already gained almost 2,000 likes and nearly 300 comments, many tagging other accounts and expressing their interest in buying the exclusive product. Over on the @hellokitty account, nearly 38,000 users have liked the photo.

    Founded in 1918, Zojirushi opened the U.S. base Zojirushi America on Jan. 23, 1987, according to Bloomberg. The company philosophy is “Creating a Quality of Life,” which includes easy-to-use rice cookers, according to the company page.
