Group of men wanted for anti-Asian attack on UCLA student

UCLA police are looking for a group of young men who allegedly attacked an Asian female student just outside the campus over the weekend.
How it happened: The group of six, aged 17 to 21, drove by the victim and her friends in the 400 block of Gayley Avenue at around 12:55 p.m. on Sunday. The group allegedly threw eggs at the victim, with one yelling a racial slur in the process.
About the suspects: Police described the primary suspect as a white man. His accomplices include three Asian men, two other white men and another man of an unknown race. They allegedly drove a beige or gray Mercedes convertible. The vehicle had a possible partial plate number of “91E.”
CAIR comments: The incident caught the attention of the Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which then released a statement condemning it:
“Acts of hatred and bigotry have no place in our society. We stand in solidarity with the victim and the Asian American community, and we call on law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to identify and hold the perpetrators accountable for their reported actions.”
The incident is being investigated as a hate crime. Anyone with information about the suspects is urged to contact university police at 310-825-9371.
