Grandma Drops 4-Month-Old Baby After Tripping on a Mall Escalator

A terrifying video of a baby falling off the side of an escalator in China has emerged online, shocking netizens all over social media.
The footage showed a grandmother accidentally stumbling on an elevator step, dropping the little toddler 30 feet onto the ground below in a mall in Shanghai. The four-month-old baby died upon impact after sustaining serious head injuries from the high fall.
According to the Sun (via Shanghaiist), the accident happened inside Wu Yue Plaza department store in Qingpu District.
Mall employees called for rescue and a team responded immediately, with paramedics rushing the child to a nearby hospital. The young boy was reportedly pronounced dead upon arrival.
While many netizens offered condolences to the family for their loss, some commenters also gave reminders to parents to be careful and avoid a similar tragedy.
“So heartbreaking and shocking! I am so so sorry for this very unfortunate incident and feel sadden by the loss of your baby,” wrote a YouTube user.
“That is so tragic… I am sorry,” another posted on Twitter.
There have been several escalator-related accidents that have happened across China in recent memory. Just last year, a toddler, with no one accompanying him, died after falling  eight meters off the side of an escalator in a Dongguan shopping mall.

If this happened on campus, Stanford should issue a clear public update and specific safety actions.

Agree. People need facts and process, not silence. The school should confirm what is being investigated.

Also important to separate verified details from rumors so this does not spiral online.

The death threat part is extremely serious. Hoping law enforcement and campus security are already involved.

This is where official reporting and support channels need to be visible and easy to access.
