Lazy College Student Starts GoFundMe to Pay Her Parking Ticket, Gets Destroyed by the Internet

Having to pay off parking tickets can be a pain and that’s why one North Carolina woman is hoping others will do it for her on her GoFundMe page.
Unfortunately, this is no April Fool’s joke. The woman, who is identified as Bethy from Raleigh, is getting backlash for her $30 parking ticket GoFundMe page. Bethy wrote on her crowdfunding campaign page:
“Yesterday, I didn’t feel like walking from my parking deck to the gym, so I parked in employee parking… which is apparently a parking violation (even on a university holiday).”
Facebook users were quick to call her out for her laziness and entitled ways. One person pointed out the irony that she was reluctant to get some exercise walking to the gym. According to Bethy, walking was a challenge because she had leg day the day before. Duh.

If this happened on campus, Stanford should issue a clear public update and specific safety actions.

Agree. People need facts and process, not silence. The school should confirm what is being investigated.

Also important to separate verified details from rumors so this does not spiral online.

The death threat part is extremely serious. Hoping law enforcement and campus security are already involved.

This is where official reporting and support channels need to be visible and easy to access.

Can NextShark keep a timeline thread here as updates come in? That would help keep context in one place.
