The theme park will feature various attractions from Studio Ghibli films such as “Castle in the Sky,” “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Kiki’s Delivery Service” and “The Secret World of Arrietty.” During the grand opening, only three of the five planned areas will be ready for visitors.
The three open areas will include Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse, where visitors can see artifacts and exhibits from the previously mentioned films. There will also be “Hill of Youth,” which features an antique shop from “Whisper of the Heart,” as well as recreated locations from “The Cat Returns” and Dondoko Forest, where a full recreation of Satsuki and Mei’s home from “My Neighbor’s Totoro” will be available for visitors to see. The theme park will also include a Totoro-themed playground.
The other two areas, Mononoke Village and Valley of Witches, will open sometime after 2023, according to the park’s press office
Ghibli Park is located in Aichi Earth Expo Memorial Park and is less than two hours away from the city of Kyoto by train. The park will be around 17.5 acres when completed.
